(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved an out of state trip for the baseball team to travel to St. Louis in June to play a game at Busch Stadium.
Activities Director Andy Mitchell explained that AD’s from Iowa, Missouri and Illinois were sent a survey from the St. Louis Cardinals asking if there would be any interest in the baseball team playing a game at Busch Stadium.
Mitchell said the game will be Sunday, June 28th.
Mitchell said they would be responsible for selling a certain amount of tickets.
Mitchell said there will be some other costs involved as well as they will either have to rent a charter bus and sleep on the bus, or rent two nights of hotel rooms. He said they are working on sponsorship’s and other funding opportunities.
The board unanimously approved the out of state trip for the baseball team.
In other action, the board approved student handbook changes to the Tardy Policy. School staff report increasing chronic tardiness, and current interventions aren’t always effective. To reinforce expectations, two new steps are proposed:
11th tardy: Student must check their phone into the office for the rest of the day.
15th tardy: Phone check-in again, an administrative review, a required parent conference, and an individualized plan to address continued lateness.
These additions aim to boost accountability, involve families sooner, and support students with persistent tardiness while maintaining the existing tiered policy for earlier offenses.
The board approved the SBRC application for Modified Supplemental Amount for At-Risk/Drop Out Prevention, Open Enrollment Out, and EL Instruction Beyond five years; they approved mentor changes; and approved the following:

■ Gratt Reed, HS Girls Track Coach
