(Guthrie Center, IA) — Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arbor would like to reduce the doctor to patient ratio in the county which he told the county supervisors at their weekly meeting this Tuesday was way too high. Arbor is focusing on three areas of — mental health and social well being, chronic disease prevention and lifestyle and health care and health care workforce access. Arbor says the needed ratio of doctor to patient is 1 to 1,000 but they are way off that now
Arbor does emphasize that Guthrie County has improved its health overall
Arbor says that the last time he did such a survey was in 2023 and got 1600 responses. Arbor says they will have the survey available online.
Arbor also is planning on free health clinics in January across Guthrie County
Arbor also reported to the supervisors that the Public Health Department has purchased 12 radon devices that residents can use to test their homes.
