(Guthrie Center, IA) — At Tuesday’s Guthrie County Supervisors meeting, the subject of selling county owned property was discussed. Back on September 24, Ron Woods came to a supervisors meeting and asked to purchase 9 acres referred to the County Farm. County Attorney Dana Minteer told the supervisors that they do not have to list the property for auction and only need a public hearing to finalize a possible sale if it meets certain standards
The board can accept assessed value or market value of the property. The supervisors did not make any decisions but Supervisor Chair Maggie Armstrong did mention they could go into closed session to determine any price to be accepted for a piece of county property.
Woods says he wants to buy the 9 acres and refurbish the land which is adjacent to a pond and needs work. There is currently a tenant that is leasing the land from the county.
