Haden Marvin Edwards, born July 3, 1938, in Adair County, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 87.
Marvin was the beloved son of Herman and Mary (Mason) Edwards. He grew up in rural Iowa, where he worked alongside his father to run the family farm outside of Fontanelle. Those years instilled in him a deep respect for hard work, the land, and the values of community and family. After his father’s passing, Marvin carried forward that legacy with quiet strength and dedication.
In 1997, Marvin met Mary Chapman, who became his cherished partner. Their bond was immediate, and Marvin was warmly welcomed into Mary’s extended family, where he quickly became a treasured presence. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared devotion to family.
Marvin’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his partner Mary; his four children, Melody (Mark) Ingram, George (Darci) Signs, Heather (Warren) Epting, and Brian (Martha) Rhodes; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in watching each generation grow, offering guidance, encouragement, and a steady hand. His family remembers him as a man of integrity and kindness—someone who always had time for a story, a helping hand, or a smile.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary Edwards, and his sister, Armadean.
Marvin’s life was defined by resilience, humility, and love. Whether working the fields, sharing meals with loved ones, or embracing new chapters later in life, he lived with gratitude and purpose. His legacy will endure in the lives of those he touched and the values he passed down.
Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield with burial following in the Greenfield Cemetery. Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.
