Lois Elaine Bailey, born on January 19, 1931, in Macedonia, Iowa, passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 94 at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. She was the beloved daughter of Earl and Maude (Dungan) Keast of Carson, Iowa. Lois grew up on the family farm with her two sisters, Laura and Joyce, and graduated from Macedonia High School. She furthered her education with secretarial training in Council Bluffs.
On May 25, 1950, Lois married Bill F. Bailey from Carson, and they shared 64 wonderful years together until his passing in 2015. Together, they farmed east of Oakland for 22 years before moving to town in Oakland in 1972. Lois worked at the Oakland Manor for many years and continued to volunteer there after her retirement, sharing her love for arts and crafts with the residents.
Lois had a passion for gardening, tending to her flower beds both on the farm and in town. She also enjoyed crocheting, creating a variety of projects and sharing her skills with others. Lois is survived by her sons, Wayne Bailey of McMinnville, OR; Darrell and Sharon Bailey of Topeka, KS; and Delbert and Nancy Bailey of Surprise, AZ. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from noon until 3:00 PM, at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA, from 1:30 until 4:00 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
