Linda Sue Mundorf, born on July 31, 1948, in Red Oak, IA, was the beloved daughter of Donald and Enola Peterson. She passed away on November 27, 2025, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE, at the age of 77.
Linda spent her early years on a farm south of Stanton, IA, and graduated from Stanton High School in 1966. She married Larry Allen Mundorf on February 24, 1968, at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, IA. Together, they lived in California and North Carolina during Larry’s service in the Air Force before returning to Red Oak. In 1980 the family moved to Griswold.
Linda was a dedicated worker, having been employed at the Holiday Inn in Red Oak, running a daycare, working at various cafes in Griswold, and serving as a cook at the Griswold Care Center. She was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church and the Legion Auxiliary. Linda cherished her time with her great-grandchildren, having coffee with her ladies on Mondays, enjoyed dining with the Lunch Bunch in Elliott, and loved traveling and shopping.
She is preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents, and her sister Candace Gotschall.
Linda is survived by her daughter Lori Watson and husband John, granddaughters Taylor Palmer and husband Jeremy, and Lexi Reiley and husband Nick, as well as her great-grandchildren Justin, Teagan, Finnley, Fischer, and Nolan. She is also survived by her sister Denise Hallquist and husband Knute, brother Curtis Peterson, sisters-in-law Phyllis Mundorf and Mary Ann Kirchhoff, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Griswold Community Building. Visitation with the family will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 4-6 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be at a later date. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
