(Des Moines) Iowa motorists saw little change at the pump this week, as the average price of regular unleaded gasoline remained unchanged at $2.76 per gallon, according to AAA.
Global crude oil prices inched upward, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rising 38 cents to $59.14 per barrel. Brent crude increased 22 cents to $63.21. Both benchmarks remain significantly lower than one year ago, when WTI sold for $69.75 and Brent for $74.32.
Regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa held steady at $2.76 per gallon, up 3 cents from this time last year. Nationally, the average price ticked up 1 cent to $3.09.
Diesel prices in Iowa fell 7 cents this week, averaging $3.69 per gallon. Despite the drop, diesel remains higher than one year ago, when the statewide average was $3.29. Iowa’s current diesel price is 9 cents below the national average of $3.78.
Natural gas prices rose 5 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site, now at $4.55 per MMbtu. Propane averaged $1.52 per gallon statewide, while home heating oil averaged $3.33 per gallon across Iowa.
