(Atlantic) Mr. Nick Zimmer, campaign consultant with American City Bureau, is our guest this week on our Vision Atlantic series. Vision Atlantic is a $84 million transformational project that includes 142 housing units, a $39 million, 300-capacity Child Development Center, and the YMCA expansion.
Nick is a native of Wayne, Nebraska, having graduated from Wayne High School and Wayne State College. He started his career at the YMCA. He ended up in Red Oak in 1995 and founded the local YMCA. He retired from the YMCA in 2017 and joined the American City Bureau. This company supports nonprofit development efforts, offering services such as successful capital campaigns, fundraising strategies, and other related services. Zimmer began his work with Vision Atlantic in the spring of 2023.
Zimmer says the next step was the all-important feasibility study part of the campaign. They collaborated with Vision Atlantic and the YMCA board of directors, and interviewed approximately 40 community members to determine their willingness to volunteer, identify potential volunteers, and explore prospective donors.
Zimmer’s role is that of a coach, a director, and a motivator, guiding individuals to help navigate the ups and downs of a campaign. He says there are trainings to do job descriptions to put together. Zimmer says they are helping to manage the 80 volunteers involved with Vision Atlantic.
Zimmer says Vision Atlantic is unique in that it is a regional project.
Zimmer says this is truly one of the most remarkable initiatives in the United States that they have been involved in.
Zimmer thanks the volunteers, donors, and anyone who would like to volunteer to contact the American City Bureau or any Vision Atlantic committee member.
