(Carroll, IA) — Kuemper Catholic will have to beat OABCIG again if they want to advance in the Class 2A football playoffs. In the first round, the Knights beat Grand View Christian 35-0. Brock Badding threw for 174 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT but the defense dominated with 5 sacks, Senior Brayton Alford had 8 tackles and the Thunder were limited to just 139 total yards including only 8 rushing. In the last week of the regular season, KC beat Okoboji 35-0 to win a district title so its two straight blowout wins against two good opponents. Head Coach Ryan Steinkamp likes that ways things are going but is not going to be 100 percent satisfied
The closest game this season for Kuemper was the 43-22 win over OABCIG in week 5 — on paper they have not been challenged but Steinkamp says there have been instances where they have had to face adversity
The Falcons actually led Kuemper 16-14 at the half but the Knights outscored OABCIG 29-6 in the 2nd half. Steinkamp says that game is a distant memory
