Galen William Scholl, age 86 of Anita, died on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Caring Acres Care Center in Anita. He was born the son of Leo William and Martha (Moore) Scholl on March 17th, 1939, he was a St Patrick’s Day Baby at the old Atlantic Hospital. Across from the Scholl Family Farm, was The Lincoln Center school. He graduated from Anita High School in 1957.
Galen was enlisted with the United States Marines and was honorable discharged. He finished his Marine Corps service holding the rank of Lance Corporal, Semper Fi, completing 3 years of active duty followed by 3 years in the reserves. He was also a member of the Masonic Obedience Lodge #380 in Anita for over 50 years.
Galen wore many hats, but the most important one was him being our dad to my brother, Jon and to his daughter, Jodi. Dad was a school bus driver and a farmer on his Grandparents farm. Then he decided to change things up and became an awesome truck driver and in the early years, for Chadwick’ in Anita, Tarkington’s in Co Bluffs. He then started to work for bigger companies like Armour in Omaha NE where he was a Teamster. He then got a truck driving job with Atlantic Carriers. Trucking was Galen’s life. Back in the day when CBs were the thing for trucker’s his handle was “The Lincoln Center Kid”. He Loved his yellow Kenworth. He gave that job up and retired at 70 but still was driving for the farmers to bring their crops into the Anita Elevator when Betty Pollock owned it.
When it started to get colder in October, he would go with his 5th-wheel camper to McAllen, Texas and come back before tax season in April. A lot of his retired friends from Anita would also go there. Dad always enjoyed his free time and if he got into town on the weekends, he enjoyed watching Stockcar races in Corning on Saturday nights. He also went to 2 Richard Petty’s Driving Schools in Iowa and Kansas. One of his instructors wanted him to put the gas on which meant possibly reaching speeds close to 200 mph.
Galen W Scholl was an Awesome man and got along with everyone that knew him. People would always say that he was such a nice man, and his daughter was blessed to have lived with him in his house for 7 1/2 years in Anita. Galen was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Fred and Alta Scholl; his parents, Leo and Martha Scholl; son, Jon Schol; and his wife, Sharon Scholl.
He is survived by his Daughter Jodi Scholl of Anita, his granddaughter, Lindsey Scholl from Tucson AZ, his stepson Scott Alff of Omaha, NE.
