(Vinton, IA) — A school bus was involved in the death of an individual from Vinton, Iowa, according to the Iowa State Patrol. On Friday afternoon at 1:42 pm, a Vinton Shellsburg school bus with 6 children passengers rear ended a 2000 Jeep Wrangler that was stationary on Highway 218 going south of Vinton and waiting to make a turn. The impact caused the Jeep to be pushed into the path of a 2018 Ford Edge SUV which was travelling northbound on Highway 218. The 37 year old driver of the Jeep was not wearing a seat belt and died from injuries sustained in the crash. The name has not been released from the Iowa State Patrol.
The driver of the bus, 28 year old Nathan Enos of Vinton and the driver of the Ford, 34 year old Joshua Hughes of Cedar Rapids did not suffer injuries. None of the students were hurt as well. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident remains under investigation.
