(Anita, IA) — In 8 Man, District 9, Audubon has clinched the district title and the #1 seed in the playoffs out of the district but there is a crowd behind the Wheelers. Four teams are tied for 2nd place at 3-2 — Ar-We-Va, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard and Exira EHK — and only 2 of them will get automatic berths in the playoffs. The other two will hope for the two at large spots. That means CAM will need a win as they host Ar-We-Va this week. Last Friday, the Cougars played without their senior leader Collin Bower and after a sluggish start, beat Griswold 66-12. Kayden Winther ran for 115 yards and 4 TD and Zach Kauffman added 101 yards on the ground. Head Coach Nick Kauffman felt the team played very well
Kauffman says that Bower is doubtful for this week’s game with the Rockets — he is proceeding this week in practice as if Bower will not play. In fact, CAM has played a game of musical chairs each week and has not had the same starting line up each week because of injuries
Ar-We-Va visits CAM this Friday, both teams are 4-3. The winner will likely make the playoffs — if CAM wins, they will be the #2 seed.
