(Minden) Bethany Wilcoxon, Senior Advisor with McClure, provided an update on recovery efforts in Minden to the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning. Minden was hit by an EF3 Tornado on April 26, 2024.
Wilcoxon highlighted the resilience of the town and how well it is rebuilding. She said that in the last quarter, they held a ribbon-cutting for Farm Table Delivery.
Wilcoxon said they were also able to secure $35,000 for Countryside Market to add a drive-through on the west side of the building. That was a combination of funds from Iowa Economic Development Authority and American Express Small Business Grant.
As far as the new well and water distribution lines…
Wilcoxon spoke about the plans for the park.
Wilcoxon also noted that they are preparing to begin the “North 40” redesign. The plan is to create a balanced mix of housing options throughout the entire site. Habitat for Humanity duplexes are expected to break ground in October. Work is also underway to have the rest of the community placed under TIF. In addition, local volunteers have been connected with architects to begin design work for the Community Recreation Club.
