(Villisca) The Villisca Community Betterment Association recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a mural titled “Be Kind Villisca.” The ribbon cutting ceremony followed the parade during the Villisca Heritage Days celebration on Saturday.
Alex Burton, President of the Villisca Betterment Association, expressed gratitude to the attendees of both the parade and the ceremony that followed.
Lori Burton explained that the mural’s theme was developed during last year’s Villisca Heritage Days Celebration. She describes the mural as featuring a bright and colorful design with bees and flowers, created by a graduate of Villisca High School who is currently working in the field of homebuilding and architecture.
The mural is located on the north wall of the Villisca Laundry Center, owned by Morgan and Cameron Lewellen.
Alex Burton noted that while the celebration, held during the Fourth of July holiday, has evolved over the years, its core mission remains the same: to promote community and family.
