(Cass Co) Darrell Hockenberry and John Knutson, members of Anita Economic Development, spoke to the Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning about their new housing development project.
Hockenberry said they are working to transform what was once one of the worst parts of Anita into one of the best areas in town. He explained that they took a property that was formerly a run-down trailer park and have cleaned it up to make way for new homes.
The homes will be built on a crawlspace foundation and will include a detached two-car garage, constructed by local builders. Hockenberry said the cost of each home would be around $200,000.
Hockenberry said CADCO approved providing $100,000 interest-free to help fund the project. He asked the county if they would be interested in contributing through some type of loan, approximately $250,000. The Supervisors said they will place the item on their next agenda for approval.
