(Atlantic) – A full house gathered Saturday night at Bluebird Hill to support the Cass County Fair Board’s inaugural Keep the Fair Free for Everyone dinner and fundraiser. Since 1954, the Cass County Fair has remained free to attend, and the current Fair Board is committed to upholding that tradition.
For years, the County Fair’s 4-H Food Stand has been the primary fundraiser to sustain the fair. Fair Board President Curtis Bierbaum emphasized that the goal of the event was to raise enough money to cover rising costs in food, entertainment, and general operations. This would allow additional funds from sponsors, donors, and grants to be used for improvements and future enhancements. Saturday night’s auction alone raised an impressive $17,635.
Bierbaum highlighted that the money raised will help expand activities, provide better entertainment, and create more opportunities for lasting memories.
According to the Fair Board, in addition to contributions from loyal sponsors and grants, the majority of financial support comes from the community dining at the 4-H Food Stand. In 2024, food stand sales brought in over $72,000—an $8,000 increase from 2023.
The 2025 Cass County Fair is set to take place from July 23 to July 29.
