(Guthrie Center) Fundraising is underway to build new stalls for the fair’s 4-H and FFA Horse Barn. In their first year in this role, Guthrie County Fair horse superintendents Kaitlyn Kenyon Boblett and Makenna Vais aim to improve the current stalls to enhance horse and visitor safety.
Vais notes that the existing stalls allow children to reach between the bars, which can be dangerous depending on a horse’s temperament. The proposed new stalls will feature taller gates, reducing direct interaction and creating a safer environment.
The superintendents are working to raise $25,000 by June 1 to construct 30 ten-by-ten-foot stalls in time for the Guthrie County Fair over Labor Day weekend.
Vais says a donation account has been set up at People’s Bank in Guthrie Center, with additional donation options to be introduced in the coming months.
