(Audubon, IA) — Two wrestlers from the Audubon Wheelers will take the mat today for the Girls State Tournament.
Nobody has beaten Macy Rasmussen in her freshman season but her 36-0 record and a regional title only earned her an 8th seed. With a win she could see the defending champ Reanah Utterback of Sigourney Keota in the 2nd round. Audubon Head Coach Maryssa Soder says the seeding is a disappointment
Still Soder says that if Rasmussen doesn’t get caught up in the atmosphere and just focuses on what she does best, she should get on the medal stand
Senior Jordan Mulford also qualified for the state tournament with just a 19-16 record but she ran into injury problems mid-season. Mulford recovered, moved down in weight and was able to make it through regionals says Soder
Mulford will have to face the #1 seed Violet Diaz of Denver in the first round which will start at 4:30 on Thursday, coverage on KSOM.
