(Atlantic) In November, the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association announced its award winners, and one of the recipients was Amber Jipsen, who was honored as the 2025 Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association Administrative Assistant of the Year. Atlantic Athletic Director Andy Mitchell has stated that Amber will be recognized for this prestigious award between the girls’ and boys’ basketball games on Friday night (Jan. 31) at the Atlantic High School gymnasium.
Amber serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Assistant Principal and the Activities Department at Atlantic High School. She was nominated for this honor by Atlantic Activities Director Andy Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell explains that this award is given annually to one administrative assistant across the state who has made a significant impact within their activities department. In Amber’s case, he notes that her influence extends beyond just the Atlantic Activities Department.
Amber was both grateful and surprised to receive this recognition. She s in her 24th year with the Atlantic Community School System, and she has spent approximately half of that time in the activities department.
She noted that she has enjoyed collaborating with several exceptional Activities Directors.
According to Andy Mitchell, Amber’s most important quality is her genuine student care.
