(Des Moines, IA) — Literacy scores are improving in Iowa.
The state Department of Education says the Nation’s Report Card shows Iowa tenth in the nation for eighth grade reading levels. The report shows significant drop in math rankings for Iowa. The Education Department says the drop is likely due to other states rebounding from their lower scores in 2022.
The Nation’s Report Card is released every other year, using tests given to fourth and eighth graders to compare student achievement.
