(Des Moines) The 91st General Assembly is currently in session, and District #9 State Senator Tom Shipley is working on a bill he hopes will be passed. The Nodaway Republican is proposing legislation that would waive tuition fees at state universities and community colleges for the children of veterans with a 100-percent disability.
Senator Shipley explained that the idea for the bill came from a veteran who noticed similar initiatives in other states and believed it would be beneficial to implement this in Iowa. Shipley emphasized that any efforts to support these families, who have already made significant sacrifices, should take priority.
