(Guthrie Center, IA) — Guthrie Center and Adair Casey school districts are looking to become one district. Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says the time has come to unite both districts into one entity. Currently, students in Adair and Casey go to their own school in grades one through six; the same for Guthrie Center. Both districts share grades 7-12 with the middle school in Adair and the high school in Guthrie Center. Rasmussen says not much would change if they combine
Rasmussen says there are a number of shared positions within both districts already
Rasmussen would like to get both districts consolidated by this September but in order for that to happen the state legislature is debating a key bill to help make it easier
Rasmussen says the state senate and state house are both considering versions of that bill and he’s hoping it will pass this year. Rasmussen says that public hearings will be scheduled to allow residents input on the possible consolidation of the two districts.
