(Atlantic) Cristin Kriefels, formerly Cristin Zellmer of Atlantic, is in her 18th year of teaching. Currently a fourth-grade teacher in the ADM School District, Mrs. Kriefels was recently honored with the Golden Apple Award. This accolade, presented by a local television station, WHO Channel 13, came after several former students nominated her for her exceptional educational contributions.
The Golden Apple Award recognizes educators who exemplify excellence in teaching, foster innovation in the classroom, and make a meaningful impact on their students and school community. It celebrates those who go above and beyond to inspire and support their students. Kriefels says she finds common ground with every student so every kid feels comfortable in her classroom.
Mrs. Kriefels shared that her favorite part of teaching is witnessing a student overcome struggles with a concept and finally understanding it, calling it the most rewarding aspect of her work.
Outside the classroom, Cristin and her husband, Brian, are proud parents of three daughters: Celia, a college nursing student, and two high schoolers, Annelise and Brinn. Cristin and Brian were both Atlantic High School Graduates. Cristin is the daughter of Alan and Brenda Zellmer. Brian is the son of Tim and Jackie Kreifels.
