(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors recognized Auditor Melvyn Houser for his dedicated service.
Board Chair Susan Miller said Melvyn Houser served as Pottawattamie County Supervisor from 2001 to 2017 and as County Auditor from 2018 to 2024.
Miller said at the Federal level, Melvyn Houser has been a member of the Rural Action Caucus, the Membership Committee, the Arts and Culture Commission, the Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee and much more.
In August 2022, Melvyn Houser received prestigious statewide recognition and was named the recipient of the Iowa State Association of Counties Golden Eagle Award.
Melvyn Houser said everything he did with ISAC and NACO was fulfilling and fun, but he thinks the work he did for Pottawattamie County is a lot more meaningful.
Melvyn Houser lost to Mary Ann Hanusa on the Republican ballot in the June Primary Election. Hanusa then defeated Bryan Jack Holder of the Free and Independent Party in the November General Election.
Melvyn Houser stated that he is going to do his best to bring in Hanusa a few more times to help her get adjusted to the Auditor’s office.
