(Red Oak) Rick Taylor, the ICAP agent for Montgomery County with Davis-Taylor Insurance, appeared before the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors this morning. He opened his remarks by clarifying that he neither had bad news nor good news to report but did announce that the county’s insurance premium would be increasing by approximately 9.5%.
Taylor explained that the premium increase was primarily due to the county’s loss ratios, which were impacted by last May’s tornado. He also recommended that the county consider revisiting its cyber insurance coverage.
In particular, Taylor suggested that the Board review the county’s current IT protocols and cyber protections. While the premium hike will amount to just over $5,000, the Board approved the 9.5% increase without changing the county’s cyber insurance coverage.
In other business, the Supervisors set the date for an organizational meeting on January 2, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., where they will discuss appointments to townships, boards, and committees. Additionally, they appointed Brian Hamman as the County Medical Examiner Investigator for a two-year term starting January 1, 2025.
