(Neola, IA) — Tri Center’s basketball teams have been on the opposite ends of the spectrum while Riverside’s girls and boys teams are kind of in the middle — tonight they collide in a girls/boys doubleheader, coverage on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
Tri Center girls are still looking for their first win of the year — the Trojans have two players that have done the bulk of the scoring — Senior Quincy Schneckloth (14.0 ppg) and Senior Hayden Thomas (110.8 ppg). Head Coach Derek Sonderland says they have been a great combo
Riverside has been more balanced offensively — 8 players average between 4 and 8 points a game. The Bulldogs have blowout wins over IKM Manning and Essex and a 2 point loss to Missouri Valley. Head Coach Mark Jeppesen says a few players have stood out
On the boys side, Tri Center has been dynamic — storming their way to a 4-0 record with 4 blowout wins. Junior Tyler Baatz leads with 23.2 points a game and Head Coach Chad Harder says he is a great finisher in the paint
Harder’s son AJ Harder — the Trojans QB in the fall — averages 22 points a game and Chad Harder says he makes the offense go
The Bulldogs are 1-1 with a 10 point win over Missouri Valley and a 17 point loss to IKM Manning. Riverside is young — no seniors on the roster and three sophomores average in double figures — Owen Fenner (19.5), Peyton Amdor (15.5) and Cole Jeppesen (10.0). Head Coach Nick Kroon says they all bring something different
Kroon says tonight’s game against Tri Center will be a challenge
