(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls’ basketball team carries momentum into tonight’s game at Creston. The (3-2) Trojans have back-to-back wins over Glenwood and Clarinda. The Panthers started the season winning two straight victories and are looking to rebound after three consecutive losses.
Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason is most impressed with his team’s ability to move the ball. In Tuesday’s win over Clarinda, the Trojans scored 16 field goals while dishing out 16 assists.
Coach Vargason says the Trojans’ offensive success is due to the team’s chemistry.
Coach Vargason says Creston’s 5’7 “guard, Kadley Bailey, is one player they must identify. The junior is averaging 17 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field, 27.8 percent from three-point range, and six steals per game.
Paytn Harter leads the Trojans offensively, averaging 16.8 points per game; Makenna Schroeder, ten ppg; Zoey Kirchhoff and Lila Wiederstein, seven. The Trojans are shooting 40.3 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from the three-point line, and 70 percent from the free-throw line.
