(Guthrie Center, IA) — What is the future of an improved ambulance service to Guthrie County? That issue was discussed at this week’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
In November’s election, Guthrie County voters rejected the EMS plan that needed 60 percent approval. One partial solution is to do CPR training on volunteers who might be able to help in an emergency — Health Services Director Jotham Arber says that training is starting soon
All the training is currently funded with private donations — so far 36 thousand dollars have been raised but Arbor says they haven’t started a major fundraising campaign yet. Arbor says this can help in some rural areas of the county
Arbor says the long term solution for EMS service is still out there in the wake of the election
Currently no county funds are being used for the CPR training but Supervisor Brian Johnson suggested that should be changed in the next budget.
