(Altoona) Governor Kim Reynolds is going to be recognized today. The Republican is set to receive the Linda S. Weindruch Award from the Iowa Taxpayers Association just after 11:30 a.m. It will take place during the group’s annual Tax Symposium ceremony. The event will be held at the Meadows Events Center in Altoona. A post on social media announcing the award didn’t provide any more specifics.
Meanwhile, Iowa lawmakers are making their priorities known before the legislative session. Republicans and Democrats spoke about their agendas Tuesday during a breakfast event hosted by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Both sides highlighted the importance of working on property taxes and higher education, including attracting younger Iowans to stay in the Hawkeye State. The state House and Senate will begin the legislative session next month.
