(Des Moines) Democrat Christina Bohannon’s campaign requests a recount in all 20 counties in Iowa’s congressional District #1 race. Republican incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks leads the race by about 800 votes, 206,940 to 206,138, according to the Iowa Secretary of State. Miller-Meeks declared victory in the race.
The Associated Press has yet to call it, and the results are still unofficial as the finalization process continues. Bohannon requested a recount Thursday evening (November 14), and Secretary of State Paul Pate must certify the race results by December 2nd. District #1 is one of the few remaining uncalled U.S. House races nationwide.
In Iowa, the three other Republican congressional incumbents were declared the winners on November 5.
