(Ames) The Atlantic boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams will compete for a trip to the state meet tomorrow afternoon in a State Qualifying venue at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames.
Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason says his team will compete against some teams they have not faced during the regular season.
Coach Vargason says the Trojan’s lead runner, Katrina Williams, will be in the mix, regardless of where the team landed on the State Qualifying Meet sites.
The teams competing include Algona, Atlantic, Ballard, Boone, Creston, Gilbert, Humboldt, Kuemper, Catholic, Moc-Floyd Valley, Nevada, Perry, Sioux Center, and Storm Lake.
The first three teams and the first 15 individual place winners from each class 2A, 3A, and 4A state qualifying meets will qualify for the state meet.
The Class 3A meet at Ames starts at 4:00 p.m. with the girls’ race, followed by the boys’ at 4:30 p.m.
