(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved and signed a proclamation designating the month of October 2024 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The proclamation states, in part, “Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer by getting a mammogram and encouraging the community, organizations, churches, families and individuals to get involved.”
Rikayla Redding, Senior Administrative Assistant at the Pottawattamie County Jail, and Brandy Brensel, Office Coordinator with the Sheriff’s Office, were in attendance for the signing of the proclamation. The Sheriff’s Office is currently selling Breast Cancer Awareness shirts.
It was noted that the funds help all cancer patients, not just breast cancer patients.
The public can purchase shirts through the month of October at the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office or on the Anytime Tees website.
Pottawattamie County Supervisors Chair Susan Miller said the lights on the Pottawattamie County Courthouse will be turned pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
