A Memorial Service for 45 year old Amethyst Aimee Marie Phipps, of Harlan, Iowa, will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan. Visitation is Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Amethyst Marie Phipps was born to Letha Schrader and David Phipps November 21, 1978. Amethyst had no children of her own biologically but she loved her friends’ children fiercely. She babysat, showed up to games and recitals, and was “Aunt Aimee” to so many. With such a big heart, it was no wonder she ended up being in health care as a CNA. For over 19 years she served at Elm Crest Senior Living taking care of residents from memory care, restorative exercises, skilled care, to assisted living. She had a gift of care giving that was quite evident by the residents who loved her. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed many hobbies. She loved music, reading and listening to books, the Kansas City Chiefs, her cats, and hanging out with her friends and family. Amethyst still enjoyed 70s/80s pop culture including Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, and listening to hair bands. Amethyst was funny, caring, and an amazing friend and sister.
Amethyst passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024 in Harlan, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Letha Schrader. She is survived by her father, David (Billie) Phipps; her sister, Sonjia (Bernus) Smith all of Harlan, IA; and step brother, Joshua Goeser of Council Bluffs, IA.
