(Guthrie Center, IA) — There is only thing that will satisfy the ACGC volleyball team this season and that’s a trip to Coralville and the state tournament.
Last year, the Chargers finished 21-11 and ran into a Dike New Hartford team in the regional finals that stopped their run. Head Coach Barb South that game taught them a few things — they need to step up their game in order to go to state and one key area is blocking at the net
Last year as a Freshman, Stella Largent put up big time statistics — 317 kills, 169 digs, and 52 aces. She had Mersadez Richter to compliment her on the other side of the net with 232 kills but she has graduated. South expects her sister Cam Richter to move from middle to outside and hopes the transition will be seamless
Also back is Senior Setter Shay Lemke (632 assists) and Junior Becca Littler (209 digs) who moves to Libero. Overall, South admits that anything short of going to state this year would be a disappointment
ACGC Volleyball opens their season on Thursday, August 22 with a tournament in Des Moines Christian.
