(Audubon) Audubon Counties Motorola Emergency Communications Enhanced project is complete and up and running. In 2022, the County Board of Supervisors approved a contract with Motorola for the new radio tower on County-owned property on Heron Avenue, southwest of Hamlin.
Audubon County Supervisor Chairman Heath Hanson says all the testing is complete, and the tower is fully operational.
The enhanced radio system supplies over 80 radios to all public entities, and everyone has the necessary equipment. The project was financed through Motorola at a rate of 4.61 percent. Hanson says the state of Iowa paid for some of these tower projects; however, Audubon County was left out in the cold. He says they are checking with the state to see if they can receive some compensation for upgrading their system.
