Michael Scott “Mike” Bell, son of John P. and Doris J. (Myers) Bell, was born on February 21, 1961, in Atlantic, Iowa. He passed away on the family farm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of 63.
Mike graduated from Atlantic High School in 1979. Following graduation, he worked at the Oakland Processing Plant and the Caterpillar Plant in Omaha. He moved to Seattle, WA in 1987, and continued working for Caterpillar for the next 25 years. Even though he lived in Seattle, Mike continued to travel back to Iowa every Spring and Fall to help his dad plant and harvest the crops. Farming was always in his blood, so much so that he moved back to Iowa in 2011 to continue farming. Even though Mike didn’t have any formal education after high school, with his engineering mind, he could fix almost any piece of equipment out there.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Doris Bell and his grandparents, Henry and Mary Bell and Leo and Imo Myers.
Survivors include his siblings, Tami (Bill) Nooning of Westminster, CO, Joni (Don) Johnson of Aurora, CO, Jim (Trisha) Bell of Atlantic, Lisa (Glen) Weaver of Lafayette, CO, and Tressa Stohs of Blair, NE; aunt, Sheryl Myers of Atlantic; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23rd at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.
A private family graveside service will be held in the Wiota Cemetery. The service will be recorded and available for viewing on the funeral home website by the end of day Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation to the Wiota Cemetery.
