(Elk Horn, IA) – The Exira-EHK Spartans baseball team started off hot until things started to cool down as the season went on. Through injuries and players missing a few games, quite a few underclassmen had to step up to provide support for the Spartans this season. Head Coach Randy Kelly was proud of how his young squad has set themselves up for a successful future.
One major goal of Exira-EHK was to run the bases efficiently. In just over 80 stolen base attempts, 65 were successful for the Spartans with 115 total bases on the season.
Exira-EHK started off with great plate success that slowly dwindled down to a team average of .218 at the plate. Regardless of that team average, they were led by Jaiden Pettipier, Jameson Kilworth, and Alex Hansen who all hit over .300 this season.
At the conclusion of the Spartans’ season, they graduate a total of four seniors. They’ll lose their two top hitters Jaiden Pettipier who hit .340 on the season with a team-low nine strikeouts and Jameson Kilworth who hit .333 with a team-leading .451 slugging percentage. They’ll also lose Chase Schwab who was key behind the plate and Jackson Radcliff who was an asset on the field.
Exira-EHK concluded the season with a 6-12 overall record and a 3-8 record in the Rolling Valley Conference.
