(Eugene, OR) – Former Iowa athlete, Brittany Brown, secured her spot in the upcoming Paris Olympics by setting a personal record of 21.90 seconds in the 200-meter race at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Competing from lane nine, Brown finished second overall, dominating the qualifiers. Gabby Thomas won the race with a time of 21.81 seconds, while McKenzie Long clinched bronze with 21.91 seconds, both from lane seven.
Brown’s achievement marks her as Iowa’s 26th Olympian and the first since the 2016 Rio Games. The Paris Olympics are scheduled to commence on July 26, 2024. Meanwhile, Paige Magee concluded her U.S. Olympic Trials campaign with a 15.57-second performance in the 100-meter hurdles semifinals. Magee, who earlier earned second-team All-American honors in the 60-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles, wraps up her season with this effort.
The Olympic Trials in Eugene will conclude with James Carter Jr. participating in the triple jump finals, scheduled for 5:55 p.m. (CT) on Sunday. Additionally, Austin Kresley is set to compete in the 200 meters at the Mexico Olympic Trials the following day.
