(Lincoln, NE) – Nebraska softball saw quite a bit of success on both the field and in the classroom, especially with Billie Andrews. The Nebraska native is the first Husker softball player to be named an Academic All-American since the 2016 season and the first to be an All-American and Academic All-American in the same season since 2002.
Andrews not only was named the 2023-24 Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year, but has also been formally named a third-team All-American, first-team All-Region, and first-team All-Conference selection. She is the 23rd player in program history to be named an Academic All-American with a 3.86 GPA while earning her degree in May. Andrews is now a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
On the field, she ranked third in school history in slugging percentage at .771, fourth in home runs with 18, fifth in extra-base hits with 30, and seventh in runs with 55. She also hit .383 with 10 doubles and racked up 45 RBIs. Throughout her career, she hit .347 with 34 doubles, five triples, 61 home runs, and 157 RBIs while posting a .432 on-base percentage. Andrews ends her career at second of all-time in extra-base hits with 100, total bases with 465, and third in runs with 191.
Andrews will now jump into the professional world after graduating in May.
