(Clarinda) The Clarinda Cardinals softball team notched its’ ninth straight win last night after defeating Red Oak 14-2. The Cardinals sit atop the Hawkeye Ten Conference with a record of 12-1 and 20-5 overall.
The Cardinals scored ten runs in the top of the third inning to secure the win by the 12-run rule. Lily Merrill picked up the win in the circle with two strikeouts in three innings of work.
Brynn Isaacson led the Cardinals with two hits, including a double, three RBI, and scored two runs. Jerzee Knight drilled a home run and four RBI. The Cardinals team batting average is .341.
Clarinda and Creston will meet on Thursday, with Hawkeye Ten implications on the line. Clarinda currently holds a one-game lead over Creston in league play.
