(Des Moines) A man is dead after apparently jumping into the Raccoon River in Des Moines. Police say officers were called out Saturday night on a report of someone jumping into the river off the Jackson Street bridge. First responders saw a person in the water near Southeast 1st and Scott streets. The Des Moines Fire Department Water Emergency Team was able to rescue the person from the Des Moines River near the SE 6th Street bridge, but he died later in the hospital.
