(Atlantic) The Sunnyside Pool opens on Friday, May 31. The Nishna Valley Family YMCA is taking over the pool’s management. Vanessa Proehl is the new pool manager. She is introducing new events and options for patrons this season.
Park and Rec. Coordinator Jeff Christensen says while the city could not install a slide this year due to regulatory constraints, a new pump system will be installed midseason, improving the pool’s overall efficiency and water quality.
The pool will open daily from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunnyside will be operated by the Nishna Valley YMCA this year, with the partnership of the Atlantic Parks and Rec department. The YMCA will handle all day-to-day patron and staffing operations, and the Park and Rec will take care of maintenance and water.
