(Area) A severe thunderstorm with high winds and hail swept through southwest Iowa on Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service storm reports, 1.50-to-1.75-inch hail fell in Page County at around 8:00 p.m. in Clarinda and Hepburn. High winds damaged trees five miles southeast of Hepburn, along with 1.75-inch hail. The Clarinda Airport reported a wind gust of 53 miles per hour, two miles southeast of Clarinda.
A report of one-quarter-inch hail fell near the intersection of Highway 92 and Henry A. Wallace Road in Adair County. One inch hail was reported five miles east of Greenfield and three miles south of Stuart.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Fremont, Mills, southeastern Pottawattamie, Montgomery, Page, Adams, Cass, Adair, Guthrie, Madison, Taylor, and Union Counties in Southwest Iowa.
