(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa Hawkeye pitcher Brody Brecht has earned the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor for the second straight week to mark his fourth Big Ten weekly honor in his career. This also marks the third honor for Iowa this season.
The Ankeny native has made his name well known this season not only in the Big Ten but nationwide. He currently has a 3.76 ERA and a 2-2 record with 95 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. He struck out 11 batters against Nebraska last week and allowed just one earned run in Iowa’s 4-1 victory.
Currently, Brecht leads the Big Ten in strikeouts while ranking seventh in the United States. The junior right-hander also ranks first in the Big Ten and third in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings with 15.55 strikeouts.
Iowa returns back to action on Tuesday against Illinois State in a game that has been moved up from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. due to possible storms in the Iowa City area. They’ll take on North Dakota State on Wednesday at home with a start time at 6:00 p.m.
