(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Audubon Wheelers boy’s tennis team came close but weren’t able to take a victory over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson after falling 6-3. Audubon was able to capture two singles wins with Sawyer Toft earning an 8-6 victory over Derek Runions while Carson Matthews earned a victory of his own beating Cain Cruver 8-1.
Head Coach Maryssa Soder commented on the wind Monday evening, as it made it hard for the athletes to read the ball on the day. Issac Jackson battled through his match but ended up falling in a tight match 8-6. Lincoln Sorter, Zack Schmidt, and Kayden Otten battled through their singles matches but ended up with a loss.
In the doubles matches, both Kayden Otten and Zack Schmidt earned a win for the first time all season for Audubon.
The Wheelers return to varsity action on Thursday, April 25th against Kuemper Catholic at 4:00 p.m.
