(Atlantic) Atlantic senior Bennett Whetstone appears to have found a home at Simpson College in Indianola. The senior, a three-time state qualifier in track and one-time state qualifier in cross country signed on to run at Simpson College on Friday.
When Bennett visited Simpson College for the first time, he was impressed by what he saw.
During his visit, Whetstone also met the Track Coach.
Whetstone will start running the 400 and 800 races. He does not plan to run cross country, although he admits qualifying for the state meet last fall is the highlight of his running career.
Concerning Cross-Country, Whetstone’s High School Coach Dan Vargason says Bennett exemplifies character, talent, and work ethic.
Atlantic Head Boys Track Coach Abby Becker says Bennett is driven and a good leader.
Bennett Whetstone will join fellow teammate Alex Sonntag and former teammate and Simpson College runner Drew Engler.
