(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors received an update on activities and request for funding from Golden Hills RC&D this morning.
The mission of Golden Hills RC&D is to collaboratively develop and lead community, conservation, and cultural initiatives to improve quality of life in rural western Iowa. Their region covers eight southwest Iowa counties (Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie and Shelby), but some of their projects extend beyond those counties.
Lance Brisbois, Deputy Director, said they have five primary program areas including Land Stewardship, Outdoor Recreation and Tourism, Water Resources, Local Foods, and Arts and Culture. Brisbois reviewed some of the projects in each of those areas…
Brisbois also noted that this year they are on the planning committee for the Iowa Trails Summit and this October will be the first time the Summit is in western Iowa and it will be in Council Bluffs.
Following the report, the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved a funding request in the amount of $15,000 for Golden Hills RC&D.
