(Des Moines, IA)- The AHSTW Vikings may be small in numbers but they’ve made an impact at the state tournament. While only the first year for head coach Evan Hansen but he was able to help get two wrestlers into the state tournament with one having a shot at as high as third place. The first of the duo is 215-pounder Henry Lund who is a returner to the state tournament for a third time this season. Unfortunately, he will come up short of the podium once again after a loss in the consolations and ends the tournament with a 1-2 record. It’s 157-pounder Kayden Baxter that found his way into the consolation semifinals after a semifinal loss.
There’s still a lot at stake for Baxter after this first loss as he can still find himself with a podium finish as high as third. Coach Hansen knows that there are little things to work on and wants Baxter to take the focus of no matter the time or place it’s wrestling your best.
Kayden Baxter and Coach Hansen will be back on the mats at 9am Saturday morning with updates on KS 95.7 and Western Iowa Today TV.
