(Avoca, IA) – AHSTW boy’s basketball has struggled as of late as they’ve lost eight straight games this season. With a fluctuating schedule and some tough teams along the way, the Vikings are focusing on their successes. One player who has brought the swagger to AHSTW basketball has been Colin Harder who shot well in the game against Red Oak and has averaged 11 points per game this year.
There are a few ways to look ahead for the Vikings in terms of improvements. Tight passes, ball control, and mental confidence are ways that this AHSTW team can dig themselves out of a rut. This AHSTW team has so much talent down the line with Harder, Luke Sternberg, and Nick Denning all leading the way this season.
With such a young team this season, it is only likely that mistakes will happen down the line. These younger players have really stepped it up on the defensive side of the basketball as they’ve continued to learn from some of the juniors and seniors how to play quickly and efficiently.
Tonight, the AHSTW Vikings will be taking on the Logan-Magnolia Panthers in a rematch from earlier this season when they fell 52-43. That game was one that the Vikings wish they could take back, but realize that moving forward and cleaning up their mistakes from last time is the best way to go at the Panthers. If they can stop Logan Magnolia’s leading scorer Wes Vana and shoot efficiently from the field, they may be circling this game for the turning point in the season.
AHSTW will take on Logan-Magnolia tonight at home, with the opening tipoff at 7:30 p.m. KSOM 96.5 will be live with Zach Collins on the call with the pregame show following the girl’s game at 7:15 p.m.
