(Atlantic) Three people from Atlantic and one from Anita face charges of counterfeiting/forgery for knowingly possessing and attempting to pass counterfeit U.S. currency and transportation tickets intending to defraud.
The Atlantic Police Department identified the four people charged in the case as 52-year-old Tami Schulz, 31-year-old Nathan Frazier, 30-year-old Kalee Nolte, all of Atlantic, and 37-year-old Jason Wingrove of Anita.
According to the Affidavit, on December 30, 2023, a man identified as Jason Wingrove was caught attempting to pass counterfeit U.S. currency at the Atlantic Walmart store. Wingrove admitted to the Police he was using the phony money to buy an inkjet printer cartridge. During the investigation, Wingrove told the Officer the money was produced at Tami Schultz Apartment B at 1200 Elm Street. Schulz admitted to the Police she gave the phony money to Wingrove.
The Atlantic Police Department conducted a search warrant at the residence and collected several hundred counterfeit items, including U.S. currency, SWITA transportation tickets, a manufactured bank check, inkjet printer, Ink cartridges, and photos of U.S. currency. Schulz identified all of the items belonging to Kalee Nolte and Nathan Frazier. The two allegedly printed the counterfeit items and gave them to Schulz to cut them out. Tami stated she knew it was illegal and tried to tell Nolte and Frazier the same.
Police interviewed SWITA Transportation Director Mark Lander regarding counterfeit transportation passes used to pay for rides on SWITA buses. The Manager confirmed that Tami Schulz, Kalee Nolte, and Nathan Frazier used counterfeit tickets on multiple occasions to obtain transportation. Lander told Police that according to his information, they began using the counterfeit passes in mid-December of 2023.
